WELL, I SUPPOSE THINGS DON'T GET WORSE THAN HANGING FROM A HELIUM BALLOON A MILE ABOVE SOME UNRECOGNIZED STATE. OF COURSE, MY GRIP COULD WEAKEN, OR I COULD GET SUCKED INTO A JET INTAKE. THAT'S ONE OF THE REMARKABLE THINGS ABOUT LIFE. IT'S NEVER SO BAD THAT IT CAN'T GET WORSE. - Bill Waterson

Cry job

The tears were streaming down his face. It was Jai's first day at work and he wanted to make a lasting impression. That certainly meant he could not afford to display his weeping skills to anyone right now. He was not here for an acting job. If only he could get to the wash room without catching anyone's eye, he could save his face (tear-stained) on the first day. He quickly grabbed a few tissues from the drawer and dabbed his face before anyone could catch him in the act. He was fine for a while and continued working, but then it started again. This time it was a more intense. The tears flowed continuously and his eyes were soon blurred. He could no longer have a clear vision and it was increasing difficult to continue his work.
Jai paused a little and let his mind wander. He had waited for this job for months. There were days when he had no work at all and days when he worked for hours to get a meager wage. And at other times he went door to door selling the stuff that he had made. It had been a struggle and now this job was a dream come true for him. Why was he crying then? This thought made him smile through the tears. He resumed working. He was working fast now. He no longer cared about his tears. They had a life of their own and could make an appearance if they wanted to. All he cared about was doing a good job of the task set in front of him. A task that required great dedication and skill. He was almost through with it and then his tears vanished. So did his fears. Jai was no longer the "jobless" Jai, he was Jai- the cook, and at the best eatery in the town. His first task of chopping the day's requirement of onions was almost complete to perfection.
